My Story …
I learnt to cook at the the tender young age of nine, as my mother was not the greatest cook in the world! I learnt to cook everything from scratch and have always learnt to cook on a budget, using what I have in my kitchen.
This went on into later life, whilst working in the travel industry and baking yummy treats for my workmates. They always encouraged me and suggested I should start my own food business, so I decided in 2014 to create a recipe for the most delicious Christmas Puddings you will ever taste (they contain chocolate!)… and I sold them to my workmates, family and friends and before you knew it, I had sold 550 in a matter of 6 weeks.
However, I could not make these puddings all year round, so in 2015 I decided to make bliss balls and muesli bars and set up little display areas and honesty boxes in 5 levels of my works kitchens. I had great feedback and really enjoyed creating healthy snacks for an industry that is not the healthiest! After 12 months of doing this, I decided I wanted to do this full time, so in April 2016 Gourmet Love was officially born.
It has been a roller coaster of a ride and lots of learning along the way. I accomplished goals of selling my snacks in nine retail supermarkets and five cafes in 2017, but with the massive competition out there it was a real struggle. Roll on 2018 and I am excited to be making Australia’s first Vegan/Gluten Free/Low Calorie Healthy Cookie Dough as well as my Peanut Butter and Granola. I now have professional packaging and am looking forward to seeing how this year pans out. Hope to have some great feedback from you all and see you at the farmers markets.
